Preventive Maintenance for Kitchen SinkA home’s plumbing consists of a complex system of parts that need to be cared for in order to operate most efficiently. In this way, it can be likened to a car’s engine. Like the engine, it often takes a persistent problem to get you to take note.

Save yourself time, money, and headaches down the road by avoiding leaky faucets, toilets, and other plumbing concerns with preventive maintenance.

The most frequent plumbing issue is the kitchen sink. As the busiest place in most homes, clogged drains can be particularly irksome here.

If your sink doesn’t have a garbage disposal then you need to stay vigilant in keeping out grease and food scraps. Build-up can lead to blockage in pipes.

If you do have a garbage disposal, it’s a good practice to run cold water before operating it and leaving it running for about 30 seconds after turning it off. This will keep food scraps from staying behind to clog the drain.

Exhaust

When the extractor in the kitchen is dirty and oiled, has no proper disposal of odors and fumes therefore not doing its job properly.

  • It is necessary when cleaning the appliance is unplugged or disconnected from the ignition key, so avoid having any problems during cleanup.
  • Ideally, after cooking you wipe with detergent or a degreasing agent to the exhaust hood that way not much dirt to accumulate.
  • You should clean it thoroughly once a week removing the grilles and filters. These can be easily removed and then sprayed with a liquid anti-fat leaving it a while to act, pass a soft brush and rinse with hot water and then let dry completely.
  • Review also inside the hood with a sponge with detergent and a product with ammonia being careful not to get the engine, then go over the outside and dry wiping all vigorously rubbing a dry cloth, finally putting everything in his arm place.

Marble Countertops
The marble countertops, the bathroom and the kitchen often loses its luster over time.

To keep them bright must pass a damp cloth daily and dry well, so it gets away with hard water.

Avoid spilling oil or abrasives as colonies or alcohol because the marble is very porous and stains easily penetrate. If it happens, it’s best to clean it quickly with soap after a good rinse and dry.

If you have not been able to act with diligence, it is best to remove grease stains is to apply a paste made from lye and plaster, leaving it on for about 30 minutes, then just rinse thoroughly with soap.
